The Isle of Purbeck is in the south-eastern corner of the county, south of Poole Harbour. It contains six towers, all with active bands (Church Knowle and Corfe Castle have a joint band) :
The bells at Corfe Castle and Worth Matravers were restored (and augmented in the case of Worth) for the Millennium, and Kingston was augmented from an eight in 2000. The area is popular for holidays and for ringing tours, and the area has plenty of attractions for non-ringers on trips. Purbeck is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the village of Corfe Castle is a conservation area, Worth Matravers and Kingston are popular walking spots, and Swanage is a seaside town, with a steam train link to Corfe Castle. Because of this, for tower outings, bookings often need to be made several months in advance. If you arrange an outing during the summer months or over bank holiday weekends then parking could be difficult. Parking Tips can be found by clicking here. So if you are visiting the Isle of Purbeck for a holiday it is possible to ring on every night of the week - you are more than welcome to join us - we would love to meet you!
